Treatment of Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders in the Dental Practice
This course aims to equip general practitioners with the skills to identify and treat patients who are at risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). With the prevalence of OSA on the rise and many patients being intolerant to the traditional treatment, CPAP, this course offers an overview of the available dental treatments, specifically Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT), as an affordable and well-tolerated solution for these patients.
The course covers topics such as screening for OSA in the dental practice, communicating with physicians, and handling patient objections. It also includes an understanding of the anatomy of the upper airway and the pharyngeal dilator muscle, as well as the differences between non-surgical (CPAP) and surgical (OAT) treatments.
Presented by John Tucker, this course comprises nine videos with a total duration of seven hours, providing strategies and indications to easily implement dental sleep medicine and treat a broader range of patients. Upon completion, you will be able to understand the key role of dentists in detecting OSA patients, learn the terminology used in Dental Sleep Medicine, and market your dental sleep practice for success. The course program can be downloaded as a PDF and the total file size is 15.5 GB.
